Coppice (Joseph Kramer and Noé Cuéllar) announces two new works, concurrently premiered and then later recalled: Observatory Sound and Sonic Observation.
Observatory Sound: Simulated Diffusion in the Likeness of the Yerkes Observatory is being temporarily released digitally on Friday, June 24, 2022, to be recalled in approximately one month’s time. This work was recorded in 2018 and composed in 2021 using virtual acoustics of the observatory, through which are simulated the diffusions of abridgments of Coppice’s studies in Bellows & Electronics (2009-2014) and Physical Modeling & Modular Syntheses (2014-2018).
This release also includes a PDF booklet with selected images from the recording sessions at the Yerkes Observatory.

Sonic Observation: Diffusion without Simulation at Elastic’s CLEAT will be a live event for the 16-channel CLEAT (Chicago Laboratory for Electroacoustic Theatre) system at Elastic on Friday, July 8th, 2022 at 8:30 PM. Multiple documentations of this event will be used to create future works that approximate and expand this evening. The evening will also feature the Elastic debut of Chicago project Leash.
Sonic Observation nests within it Hourglass, an abridgement of Coppice’s overarching sonic palette across 13 years of work conveyed in the duration of one hour.
