Coppice was founded in Chicago by Noé Cuéllar and Joseph Kramer in 2009. These two evenings mark Coppice’s first performance since 2022.

To be presented for the first time, stretch to realtime grounding (Earth dilating with interlacing triangles) is a new work for staged performance with triangles, clock chimes, custom devices, omni microphone, and electronics.

  • Integrating musical triangles, which often signal changes in music, this composition abstracts and explores themes of time, dilation, spacing, distortion, superimposition, gesture, and disintegration. The work uses spatial audio speakers as part of the instrumentation.

  • stretch to realtime grounding (Earth dilating with interlacing triangles) is a continuation of Coppice’s previous work Bridge to Oblique Landscape (Distance in the Unison with Crosscutting Triangles), for triangles, musical glasses, and electronics, released in 2023 on vinyl by Ferns Recordings (FR), a work that is based on John Cage’s composition In a Landscape (1948) and informed by Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt’s Oblique Strategies card deck. • Coppice’s experimental music has been praised as “rich and highly abstract,” “volatile,” “bewildering,” “a universe unto itself” and "music that simply exists on its own terms.”

  • Ginger Krebs and Ian Hatcher are also performing, presenting solo works as part of the same bill
