About the artists:
Wibowo wanders the unconventional landscape of the diaspora. A traveler of mediums utilizing open endings and collective memory. Navigating boundaries between the public and the private, the sight and the listenings, the ecologies and the abstract, tradition and contemporaries, the studio and the theories.
Rongzhang Cao is an artist who translates complex phenomena into sensory experiences. His practice uses interactive installations, kinetic systems, and sound to explore the visibility and invisibility of systemic change, whether in human memory or in ecological networks. His work gives tangible, material form to these unseen processes and connections.
He holds a Bachelor’s in Textile Engineering from Soochow University and is currently pursuing his MFA in Art and Technology/Sound Practices at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Stefano Botti researches how the cybernetics of human perception become integrated into military and industrial technologies, especially how while hiding behind statements of accuracy, governments and corporations intentionally select data points matching their own narratives, which are then mapped onto media sensory instruments, relating closer to an art-making practice. These powerful bodies use these processes to seek a God’s eye perspective over a landscape, to become an unbodied witness. These concepts are explored through different sciences incorporated into their works, like stereoscopy and reflection.
