Join us at Maclean 522, this Wednesday, March 6th, at 3:30pm to hear Associate AT/SP Professor Lou Mallozzi give a talk, where he will present his latest research into Japanese artists’ use of non-musical sound in otherwise visual arts contexts during the 1950s-1970s. This little known area offers prescient and substantive articulations of an expanded global approach to “proto-sound art” and the histories and strategies of sonic arts practice. Mallozzi has conducted interviews with artists, curators and scholars; visited museum collections and archives; created detailed documentation of under-studied works; and is producing responsive and collaborative artworks as an adjunct to his scholarly research.
Hope to see you there!
