Jeffrey Sconce is a professor of film and media studies at Northwestern University. He is the author of Haunted Media: Electronic Presence from Telegraphy to Television (Duke, 2000) and The Technical Delusion: Electronics, Power, Insanity (Duke, 2019). His forthcoming project examines the relation of fantasy and phantasy in constructing imaginary worlds.
