Wanna learn about the peer-2-peer web?

hey yawwwl! wanted to invite everyone to the next D.R.E.A.M. (Data Rules Everything Around Me) tomorrow!

it’s at Thursday 6:30pm at ICNC/MakeCity 320 N Damen Ave

Our guest speaker this time will be Tara Vancil, She is one half of the open-source peer2peer web browser called Beaker. If you’re not familiar with the project, it’s amazing! It’s a vision of what the web could be + perhaps what it was always meant to be. It’s built on the peer2peer dat protocol, it’s essentially a web browser built w/Electron (nodeJS+webkit) w/the addition of dat:// && plenty of features that makes it way easier for beginners to create their own web presence (especially in our current age of JS framework madness). View Source becomes more like “View Repo” which could be easily forked+cloned (or “copied” in Beaker parlance) && edited right there in the browser! u gotta check it out if u’re at all interested in decentralized tech.

D.R.E.A.M. is NOT a lecture series, but a conversation series (think of it as an extended Q&A session) devoted to discussing digital issues (data mining, surveillance, decentralization, broadband access, ethics in AI +more) with a different featured speaker each month. Featured writers, artists, hackers, developers, activists and other cultural producers are invited to share their research and perspectives on the data that fuels the systems that run our world. It’s FREE+OPEN (+free drinks/pizza)
